As part of the activities organized by the BIONICA project, which is coordinated by the vaccine plant MECHNIKOV and the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua), from October 26 to November 2, the BIONICA camp was held at the UNAN-León. In that camp, Pharmaceutical Chemistry students of both universities shared their knowledge and experiences in the field of biotechnology with the fifth year of secondary school pupils of the National Institute of the West “Benito Lacayo” of León.
According to Sara Negaresh, Coordinator of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry career of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, UNAN-Managua as initiator of the project, has provided accompaniment to UNAN-León students so that they could carry out the activities programmed in the camp. “The first edition of BIONICA was held at our University (UNAN-Managua) with the children of workers from the plant. We have seen some great results. So we figured to bring this experience for share with the pupils of secondary school. The biotechnology promotion project is unique at the national level and we are proud to share it” she said.
