As part of the official visit to Venezuela of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Industry Mr. Dmitry Rogozin, the Director of SPbSRIVS of the Russian Federal Biomedical Agency Mr. Victor Trukhin and the Minister of Health of Venezuela Ms. Luisana Melo signed a memo of understanding providing for an assessment of the cooperation opportunities in training and transfer of vaccine and civil nuclear medicine technology.
The document was preapproved at the meeting of the high-level XII Russia-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission. “For the first time, possible cooperation in the health sector was touched on. Russia has great experience in providing public healthcare services, which could be useful to Venezuela,” said the Minister of Industry and Trade, economic adviser to the President of Venezuela Mr. Carlos Faría.
SPbSRIVS plans to train staff for and share experience in the vaccine technology with the Venezuelan company ESPROMED BIO, the national producer of vaccines.
Also, the parties agreed on joint registration and supply of their products to promising markets. For instance, in the near future SPbSRIVS will ship to Venezuela 150,000 doses of the seasonal influenza vaccine for clinical trials and registration in that country.
